The small stretch of converted historic buildings along River Lane has quietly assembled one of the most appealing free-event lineups in the region for summer 2026 — live music, rotating art exhibitions, hands-on creative workshops, and food trucks, all within a few hundred feet of each other.

Thursday Evenings: Sperryville Summer Concert Series, Season 6

The Sperryville Summer Concerts series is back for its sixth season, and it kicked off on May 21 with Rebecca Porter Music performing a fusion of honky-tonk and Shenandoah roots at River District Arts. The format is exactly what summer evenings in the mountains should be: gates and food trucks open at 5pm, with live music from 6–8pm. Admission is free.

Rebecca Porter's opening night set the tone — roots-driven, unpretentious, and rooted in the regional sound of the Blue Ridge foothills. If the kickoff is any indication, this is a series worth planning multiple visits around. Additional dates have not yet been confirmed publicly, so check River District Arts' social channels for the full summer lineup as it's announced.

Pro tip: Arrive closer to 5pm to stake out a good spot and browse the food truck options before the crowd builds. The 6pm music start gives you time for a leisurely dinner first.

Second Saturdays: The Collective Canvas at The Marketplace

A short walk from the concert venue, The Marketplace in Sperryville's River District is launching a brand-new monthly series this summer: The Collective Canvas. Running every Second Saturday from 2–4pm, June through November 2026, the series brings rotating local and regional artists to The Confluence Gallery inside The Marketplace for free, interactive workshops and live demonstrations.

Each month features a different artist sharing their practice with visitors — no registration required, no art experience necessary. It's designed as an open community creative session, and the rotating format means each visit offers something genuinely different.

The series kicks off on June 14 with a special event: a Meet the Artist session with Sam Grantham, whose exhibition 'The Spirit Moved Me' is currently on view at The Confluence Gallery. Grantham's show features vibrant portrait paintings — full of personality and presence — and runs through June 2026. The June 14 meet-and-greet from 2–4pm is a rare chance to hear the artist talk about the work directly.
