Common questions

How do I make a reservation?

Ask the Concierge. Describe what you want — “a table at Griffin Tavern on Saturday at 7” — and it will work out the details, including calling the venue on your behalf. You can reach the Concierge from the app, or on the web at holler.guide/ask.

How does the Concierge work?

It’s an AI assistant that knows the Virginia Piedmont. It can help you find places, plan a visit, and arrange reservations. It only recommends real places from our directory — it isn’t browsing the open web and it doesn’t invent venues.

When it places a call or sends an email for you, that happens in your name, and we log the outcome so you can see what happened. Calls are only placed between 7 AM and 10 PM Eastern.

How do I book a ride?

Rides are offered at participating places. Open the place you’re headed to under Places, and if it offers rides you’ll see the option to request one — no account needed.

Once you request, you get a private link to track the ride. Your name, phone number, pickup and drop-off addresses, and party size are shared with the driver assigned to you so they can complete the trip. Anyone who has your tracking link can view the ride and cancel it, so share it carefully.

Is my data secure?

Payments run through Stripe — we never see or store your card number. Everything moves over HTTPS, and data is held on encrypted servers in the United States. Our Privacy Policy spells out exactly what we collect and who else is involved.

How do I delete my account?

In the iOS app, open Profile → Delete Account.

If that doesn’t go through, or you signed up on the web, email us and we’ll take care of it for you — see below.

I’m not getting notifications

The app asks for notification permission the first time you set a reminder. You can change it later in iOS Settings → Holler Guide → Notifications.

The map isn’t showing my location

Check iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Holler Guide, and allow location “While Using” the app. On the web, check your browser’s location permission for holler.guide.
