Front Royal is the northern gateway to Shenandoah National Park and the north terminus of Skyline Drive, the 105-mile ridgetop road through the park. The Warren County stretch of the park covers roughly the first 10-15 miles of the Drive, with overlooks, picnic grounds, and trailheads reached directly from town via Route 340.

Start underground at Skyline Caverns, open daily 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., then finish above ground with a round at Front Royal Golf Club before the foliage climbs Skyline Drive.
